Andrew had type 1 diabetes. With that we worry all the time about our other children and our grandchildren developing diabetes. Type 1 diabetes can occur at any age. If you have a close family history of Type 1 in your family you can be screened to see if you will develop Type 1 through an antibody test. THE VERY BIG NEWS is the development of Teplizumab, a drug that has been approved by the FDA to help prevent the development of Type 1 diabetes. This is very big news. Check it out! beyondtype1.org/teplizumab-fda-approval-2/

Teplizumab binds to certain immune system cells and delays the progression of T1D.
Most folks knew my precious Andrew as an adult. This picture below shows him much younger. Forever with a smile on his face, he accepted his diabetes and lived most days with that smile. Sometimes it is very hard to stay focused on a cure when this dreaded disease took the life of my child. I am very grateful for the continued support Anchored in a Cure receives. Diabetes is a VERY difficult disease. If you have a loved one with diabetes please be sure to reach out to them today and let them know you support them. It's not easy xo ⚓️⚓️⚓️
